Democratic Gov. Janet Napolitano and Republican legislative leaders met Wednesday to discuss an education issue for the first time since a judge issued an order that could subject the state to daily fines of up to $2 million.

After the meeting, Napolitano said she and Senate President Ken Bennett and House Speaker Jim Weiers discussed points of disagreement but didn't get into possible ways to reach agreement of instruction of students learning the English language.
