OSWEGO --  Kindergartners entering Oswego District 308will have the option of learning the district's curriculum in two languages starting this fall.

The district last week announced an optional program for kindergartners to learn in both English and Spanish, with a goal for pupils to become bilingual.

The district plans to expand the program an additional grade level each year through Grade 5.

"The district's rapidly growing and more diverse student population prompted the need to consider implementing [the program]," said Matt Rich, Boulder Hill Elementary School principal and program coordinator.

Kindergarten registration is set to begin at three sites on Wednesday. Space in the dual language program is limited.
